Page of Wands
curiosity · apprentice · enthusiasm · exploration · novelty
The Page of Wands is curiosity set in motion. A young figure examines the staff he holds as though it were something new, and in fact it is: here one learns by contact, not by concept. The card speaks of beginning to explore an interest with enthusiasm, asking questions without fear of seeming inexperienced, and carrying forward a message that has yet to take shape.

Reversed
In its reversed position, it points to enthusiasm without continuity: much is begun and little is finished. It may also suggest childishness, too much loud talk about an achievement that does not yet exist, or the fear of declaring oneself a beginner in a new field and leaving it at that.
Light
- Curiosity that learns by doing
- Contagious enthusiasm
- Willingness to be a beginner
- Good news carried forward
Shadow
- Excitement that does not last
- Starting much and finishing little

Questions to notice
- Which curiosity have you postponed, thinking it is not the moment?
- Can you tolerate doing something badly at the start?
- What do you want to begin today, still without a complete plan?
What the card shows
Psychological aspects
It corresponds to openness to learning and to the willingness not to know. It involves looking at the world with fresh attention and enduring the discomfort of being a beginner in something that still yields no status or visible result.
Emotional aspects
Genuine excitement, good haste, the wish to tell someone the news. Underneath, there is sometimes the insecurity of starting late or of not having enough talent for what one wants to learn.
Behavioural aspects
It includes experimenting, asking, taking notes, enrolling, starting small and telling the discovery to whoever has the patience to listen. In excess, dispersion among many interests and little staying power in any of them.
In daily life
Relationships
It speaks of approaching with freshness, visible interest, a wish to discover the other attentively. It can also describe someone who gets excited quickly and gives up when the relationship stops being a novelty and becomes everyday life.
Work
Learning at an early stage: a course, an internship, a first new role, a tool not yet mastered. It asks for an environment where mistakes are permitted and a healthy dose of care with what you promise to deliver.
Personal life
It deals with the part of your life that asks for more play and exploration. It invites you to admit what you want to learn for the simple pleasure of learning, without calculating performance or usefulness.
The image
A young man stands holding a long staff with both hands and looks in its direction, with red feathers fastened to his hat and a tunic of flowers. Behind, the terrain is arid and there are pyramids in the distance; on the ground, a few shoots insist on appearing. The open waste and the shoot say the same thing: enthusiasm in an environment that still demands work.
