Knight of Wands
impetus · action · departure · adventure · courage
The Knight of Wands is movement that sets out at once. The knight charges at a gallop, cloak in the wind, staff in hand, with no time to check the road: he is going. The card describes a burst forward, bold action, the courage to change place or life, and the risk that belongs to anyone who prefers speed to guarantee.

Reversed
Inverted, impetus turns into trampling: hasty departures, promises made in euphoria and left unkept, comings and goings without a defined direction. It may also point to the opposite, when someone who always acted fast now stalls, fearing that any movement could go wrong.
Light
- Courage to act before being sure
- Energy to begin changes
- Assumed adventure
- Charisma that moves people
Shadow
- Rashness that creates a new problem
- Action as escape from what is inner
- Promising more than you deliver
- Intolerance of other people's slowness
Questions to notice
- Where are you running to, and is that a choice or a habit?
- What in your life asks for fast action and what asks for calm?
- Do you bear the waiting after setting out?
What the card shows
Psychological aspects
It corresponds to the energy of affirmation and the wish to conquer your own space. It involves owning the ambitious part of yourself without depending on anyone's permission, and learning that haste and direction are separate questions.
Emotional aspects
Enchantment, courage with a background of anxiety, the wish to feel life happening. After the sprint, the restlessness of someone who still does not know how to stay still is common.
Behavioural aspects
It includes deciding quickly, leaving, changing, confronting, taking the lead. Out of balance, it appears as impulsiveness, impatience with the rhythm of others and a pile of projects begun with impetus and abandoned halfway.
In daily life
Relationships
It describes the courtship, the conquest made of impulse, the passion that begins at high speed. It asks for attention to the difference between wanting someone and wanting the intensity that person stirs in you.
Work
A change of field, a work trip, a project taken on with much will and little schedule. Good energy for starting; insufficient for finishing, if it does not come accompanied by method and by someone to organise the rest.
Personal life
It speaks of concrete changes: leaving a city, ending a routine, starting a physical practice, making that postponed phone call. It invites you to look at what the speed is preventing you from feeling.
The image
A knight advances on a rearing horse, with armour adorned with salamanders and a staff held upright. The yellow cloak opens backwards and small flames suggest the animal's gesture. There is no detailed landscape: the plane is flat, defined by the direction of the movement.
