Three of Wands shows the first return of what was launched. The effort has already left port and is now observed from afar, the body still on land and attention on the horizon. It is the card of expanded reach: what was intention begins to gain world and comes to depend on people beyond you.

Reversed
Seen in reverse, it points to expectation larger than the investment made, or impatience with results that take time to arrive. It can also indicate hurried expansion, promises of reach that the current structure does not sustain. It is worth separating what is actually underway from what has only been announced.

What the card shows
Psychological aspects
It corresponds to the capacity to look far without losing the ground and to sustain a mid-term vision while the present is modest. Without it, the wish to grow turns into anxiety; with it, one can work with deadlines, stages and interdependence.
Emotional aspects
There is hope with a touch of restlessness: the ships may come back full or not come back at all. The card asks you to acknowledge the anxiety of waiting without turning it into doubt about the decision you have already made.
Behavioural aspects
It involves preparing, getting quotes, negotiating, coordinating with partners, following the progress of what was begun. It can also show up as someone who delegates everything and disappears, or as someone who cannot bear to stop controlling every stage of the journey.
In daily life
Relationships
It speaks of projects for two and of bonds that open beyond closed intimacy: meeting each other's people, building a shared life with the world taking part. It also deals with the wait for an affectionate return that has not yet arrived.
Work
First sign of return: contracts in progress, partnerships, distant markets, training that will yield further ahead. The question is to invest in what has real future, without confusing movement with result.

An invitation to think of your own life on a scale larger than the week. Learning, planning changes of home or study, building something that only completes itself some time from now and therefore demands constancy.
