Six of Swords
crossing · transition · grief in motion · support · calm waters
The Six of Swords marks the passage from a hard place to a gentler one. The crisis is not over, but the worst lies behind: now there is movement, and it happens slowly, with someone rowing and someone guiding. The card speaks of quiet changes no one sees from outside and that rearrange life within. As a tool for self-knowledge, it often points to support received or given and to accepting that carrying one's own weapons along is part of the crossing.

Reversed
Inverted, it describes the crossing that never ends. It may be the person who reaches the other shore and keeps looking back, carrying the crisis as identity. It also points to difficulty accepting help, or to changes made on paper that were never truly made. There is also the reading of a crossing postponed by fear of what exists on the other side.

Questions to notice
- What are you carrying along that could stay on the shore you left?

- What small step today brings you closer to the other shore?
What the card shows
Psychological aspects
A process of inner separation: to stop organizing identity around an old problem. It requires dealing with the ambiguity of being between two states, still carrying the baggage of the previous one. It is a function of maturation, done in stages and not all at once.
Emotional aspects
A low, continuous sadness, with moments of relief. There is no euphoria, but the gray calm of someone leaving a heavy phase. Accepting this intermediate state without rushing it is the emotional work of the card.
Behavioural aspects
Changing environment, routine, neighborhood, habit. Accepting a ride, asking for directions, seeking out those who have already crossed something similar. Less confrontation and more slow movement, with room for rest along the way.
In daily life
Relationships
The beginning of a serene distancing, or a reapproaching after a hard period. It may indicate a relationship that has crossed a crisis and now shifts into another kind of closeness, less intense and more honest about what happened.
Work
A change of team, a transition of role, a gradual exit from a draining environment. Tasks of organizing what is left and delivering what is needed before moving on to the next place, without excessive haste.
Personal life
Adjusting your routine to leave a difficult period behind: less contact with what pulled you down, more time in places that calm you. The intimate crossing is made slowly, and that is not delay.
The image
On still waters a boatman steers a raft, with six swords standing upright over the prow. Beside him, a hooded figure and a child follow in the same direction, heads lowered. The shore of departure still appears in the frame and the one of arrival lies ahead, clearer. The only visible effort is the oar: the crossing is made through steadiness, not speed.
